Blanche Niznik was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her career with United Airlines brought her to Seattle in 1978. She has had a great interest in art all her life and extensive travel in Europe and the Far East throughout the years has served to focus that interest on landscapes and seascapes. She has also done work in portraiture and enjoys honing her skills in still life setups. Her favorite mediums are oil and pastel and technique described as realistic with a touch of impressionism however, when traveling she enjoys sketching with pen and ink with watercolor washes. Since retiring from United Airlines, she has been able to give her art career the attention it deserved.

She feels the pursuit of being a good artist requires continued study. Part of this program is accomplished by attending workshops and seminars held by prominent national and international artists whenever possible. The artist has also attended classes at The Seattle Academy of Fine Art, focusing on drawing and color study.
